What I’m Currently Reading:
Harry potter and the Half blood prince by JK Rowling –I’ve been celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday all month. I’ve been rereading the series and re watching the movies with my book club The Book Democracy This time around I’ve been listening to the audiobooks for the first time. And wow! The narrator Jim Dale truly brings all the characters to life! I have enjoyed this journey again as if it were the first time. I’ve laughed and cried and gasped my way through Hogwarts. And even though today is the 31st, I will continue my journey into August. (Life gets n the way sometimes – I just celebrated my little boy’s birthday and honestly, in this family, we celebrate all week lol (I tried for this kiddo to be born on Harry’s bday… but no luck)
Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston-–I love my LGBTQIA+ books.. SO MUCH! And this one is no exception. This story is charming -see what I did there?- I love the humor, self discovery, wit and truth to this fictional story.
What I recently finished:
Harry potter and Order of the phoenix by JK Rowling. This book is phenomenal as all the others. It’s a little harder to get through, however, because it is when Harry’s frustrations arise the most. I’ve heard some people call him “winey” .. but my dude has gone through hell and back . He’s not safe in the muggle world and Dumbledore is ghosting his ass. This muggle right here would be giving out kicks to the neck. So I feel you dude. Scream at everyone.. stupify it up.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff – I enjoyed the crap out of this book. It was a buddy read with my home girl Alison from Story-eyed Reviews . We did a fun topsy turvey joint review for this badass book which you can find –HERE– — I got put this disclaimer again! For some reason people seem to think this a Young Adult novel because the MC is 15. –stop.. do not pass GO– this is NOT YA- Do NOT let your 13 year old read this– but you, Adult person who is of age to drink, totally should!
What I think I’ll read next
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling – I originally wanted to read this book during pride month since it has LGBTQ+ characters, but I didn’t get a chance . I love stories about witches. And this has been pretty hyped in the FB book club scene.
Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows – Even though I technically wanted to re-read the whole series during the month of Harry’s bday, I’m not going to just stop mid adventure. So I will carry on this journey with my fav Trio right after I’m done having my heart broken again by The half blood prince. #ILLCryYouARiver
